Coming from the United States to intern at Image Line Communications in London has been an immensely rewarding experience so far. Before my arrival, I had little idea of what to expect from the internship, but the support from the Image Line team has made the transition smooth, enjoyable, and insightful.

I began this journey with limited knowledge of the maritime industry, which challenged me to adapt quickly to a new and unfamiliar sector. During my first three weeks, I have gained valuable insight into e-commerce, public relations, and shipping logistics. These experiences have built upon my existing skills while introducing me to new areas that will undoubtedly benefit my future career. I have worked on client press releases, updated shipping lane information, and learned how to upload products to Image Line’s exhibition website in line with SEO guidelines.

Adjusting to a UK workplace came with some initial culture shock. The office layout, company culture, and intern responsibilities differ significantly from previous environments I’ve worked in. However, it has been both valuable and insightful to work closely with my supervisor, Sue, and colleague Vy in the office.

Overall, these first three weeks have been an excellent learning experience. I’m grateful for the opportunity to develop industry-specific skills and look forward to applying them back in the United States and beyond. I sincerely thank the team at Image Line for their support and guidance
