MIPIM UK – Panel Session on Business Rates 20 October 2016
London’s businesses will be forced to hand over an extra £4 billion from their business rates to the treasury over the next five years which will have a negative effect on the capital’s economy. This is not just bad for London it is bad for the whole UK. The golden goose may stop laying the eggs, the cost of being a business in London is now disproportionately high – business rents, rates, London Living Wage and road congestion costs are seriously eroding the profitability of staying in Central London.
