Global Maritime Consultancy Group (GMCG), one of the world’s leading technical, legal and management consultancy services for the maritime industry has strengthened its maritime presence in India with two new regional appointments.
Vinod Vijayamohan has been announced as their new Country manager in India along with Rajendran Balakrishnan Urikouth who becomes the new GMCG Business Development Manager working out of Mumbai.
Following a difficult 12 months for the global maritime industry due to the pandemic, GMCG has invested heavily in India and is building on more than 15 years of experience and client relations in the region. The Cochin and Mumbai offices have been selected to offer Indian ship owners and maritime stakeholders a direct link to the global maritime sector utilising the skills, knowledge and experience of Vinod Vijayamohan and Rajendran Balakrishnan Urikouth.

In joining GMCG in India, Vinod will be overseeing the start of the company’s 16th year operating in India and understands the significance of his appointment as Country Manager and will be a driving force in helping the global maritime sector as it recovers from the recent pandemic.
Rajendran, a graduate in naval architecture, will work closely with clients looking to develop their maritime operations and take advantage of GMCG’s global presence and unique services. He has more than 36 years’ experience in shipyard management operations, commercial contracts and related maritime knowledge. During his career in the region, Rajendran has managed the development of shipyards in Goa, Hazira and Chennai and has a deep understanding of the needs of ship owners and shipyards in one of the most exciting and developing maritime sectors.
Among the services Rajendran has extensive experience with are the acquisition and execution of contracts; risk review, analysis and mitigation for both ship owners and shipyards; environmental clearances, statutory approvals and certifications and interactions with governmental departments related to the maritime sector. His appointment signals a determined push by GMCG continues to provide clients in India with the highest levels of support and knowledge to develop their business operations.
Rajendran Balakrishnan Urikouth sees this as the perfect time to demonstrate the strength of GMCG in India. Rajendran Balakrishnan Urikouth brings with him a wealth of maritime knowledge and experience, particularly in newbuild operations. He joins GMCG after from L&T Shipbuilding.
